Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is set to launch a January move for West Ham United striker Carlton Cole, according to a report in The Daily Mirror.
With Robin van Persie sidelined for five months with an ankle ligament injury and Nicklas Bendtner also out for a few weeks, the Gunners need a front man with power and pace.
The 26-year-old Cole certainly fits the bill, and the cash-strapped Hammers would surely find a bid of around £15 million hard to resist.
Although currently sidelined for around another four weeks with a knee injury, Cole appeals to Wenger because he is also eligible for the Champions League.
