Everton 'Keeper Tim Howard: Television To Thank For Jermain Defoe Penalty Save

Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard has revealed the secret behind the late penalty save which earnt his side a crucial point at home to Tottenham - television.

The American stopper denied Spurs' in-form striker Jermain Defoe from the spot as the Toffees picked up a 2-2 draw at Goodison Park, and revealed the abundance of TV footage had helped his preparation for the kick.

"Louis [Saha] gave me a little word of advice," he toldSky Sports after the game, "But I kind of knew what to expect from Defoe.

"To be honest, there is so much video footage available these days, that not one penalty isn't there to see."

Howard also paid tribute to Everton's supporters, and claimed that their support had played a crucial role in their side's rousing late fightback.

"For me it [a potential move away from Goodison Park] is difficult to talk about, because I want to stay," said the USA international, "Today the crowd were up for it, and thankfully we gave them something to cheer."
