CL: Outside of Old Trafford, Manchester United vs, Milan
News of the World reports that Manchester United have spent over £90 million in paying various companies over a two-year period, despite the crushing amount of debt that surrounds the club.
The tabloid claims that the Old Trafford giants have had on their payroll an array of firms who employ a wide range of professionals, from magicians to demolition experts.
However, the report stops short of hurling allegations at the Red Devils, as it is explicitly stated that there remains no suspicion that the club have done anything wrong with regard to their financial affairs.
A spokesman for United allegedly said: "Manchester United is a multi- faceted business which operates 364 days a year across many areas aside from football matches.
"These include catering, conferencing, maintenance and the other central administrative costs you would find in any company.
"In 2007-08 we had operating expenses of £170m on a turnover of £257m - the biggest profit ever recorded by a football club."
Despite recording a huge profit, United are still said to be about £650m in the red.
